Bangladesh cricket team created history, when they beaten the mighty New Zealand Cricket team by 3 runs. History has been made as this 4-0 win of the 5 ODI series (one abandoned due to bad weather) lead to the first ever white-wash done by Bangladesh against any of the top-level oppositions.
In this low scoring match, batting first Bangladesh managed only 174, largely based on the mediocre scores of Shakib (36), Imrul (34) and Mushfiq (29). Replying the miniscule target the Kiwis faced the heat right from the beginning as Rubel and Razzak picked up 5 wickets within 6.3 overs and just 20 runs on the board. Though a valiant effort has been put on by Grant Elliot and skipper Vettori, yet after the depurture of the skipper at 106 it was just a show for the BD bowlers. Elliot’s half century (59) and Kyle Mills slogs, all proved to be futile when Rubel uprooted the stamps of Mills. All NZ could manage before loosing their 10 wickets was 171, 3 runs short of the total. Rubel Hossain of Bangladesh took 4 wickets for 25 runs.
Rubel for his brilliant bowling was declared Man of the Match where, the Bangladeshi captain Shakib bagged the Man of the Series Award.
The Bangladeshi Cricket fans are ecstatic after such performances. The whole nation is now eyeing for the World Cup Cricket 2011, where Bangladesh is a co-host.
